I wrote my post Yoga for Pandemic-Related Chronic Stress because I’d been hearing that even though there are now vaccines and more ability to see our family members and friends, some people were saying their anxiety was even worse now and they didn’t know why. So I thought it would be a good idea to get some information about chronic stress and its relationship to anxiety available on the blog.

Then after I published that post, Barrie Risman confessed to me that even she was feeling a bit of anxiety recently, though that’s highly unusual for her

To me, this wasn’t surprising because the chronic stress of the last year and half could very well be triggering anxiety in many people. And being stressed out for that long isn’t easy to recover from—you don’t just instantly snap out of it. But yoga can really help with these problems because with regular practice you can use yoga to reduce your baseline stress levels while at the same time you reduce your feelings of anxiety.

So I said to Barrie, “I think we need to do an online workshop as soon as possible so we can help as many people as we can with their anxiety.”  She agreed and we quickly got to work!

Now we have a live online workshop on Yoga for Anxiety scheduled for August 28 at 2-5 EDT | 11-1 PDT. (For people who can’t attend the live workshop, we’ll be offering a recorded version of the workshop sometime after the live event.)

Basically, the workshop will be a combination of background on anxiety and stress, which I’ll be presenting, and two different sequences, which Barrie will be teaching. If you’re someone who suffers from anxiety, this workshop will teach you how to use yoga to take charge of your anxiety, including how to manage current episodes and help prevent future episodes. If you’re a teacher, this workshop will provide you with many ways to offer help to your students who suffer from anxiety.
